New Campers Integration – 3rd Year Scouts

Scouts: 3rd Year Scouts

Our 3rd year scouts are taking on mentorship roles to help welcome and integrate new campers into the troop experience.

One of the most important rites of passage in scouting is learning to lead. Our 3rd year Scouts are stepping into mentorship roles, guiding first-year members through the early stages of troop life.

This project involves pairing experienced Scouts with newcomers during meetings and camp events. Mentors help new members understand troop traditions, outdoor skills, and the values of Scouting.

The experience builds real leadership skills — patience, communication, and accountability — while creating a welcoming and inclusive troop culture for all members.

The photo below captures the whole troop together — new and experienced scouts side by side — a reflection of the strong community this mentorship program helps build at 1st Glen Abbey.
